Important in Medicine
because… · Joseph Lister was a pioneer in developing antiseptics, used even before Pasteur’s theory was public. · Antiseptic methods kill germs. · He introduced carbolic acid sprays in Operating Theatres in the 1860s, with good success rates, fewer patients were infected. · He extended this in 1865 when he heard about Pasteur’s Germ Theory. Tools and surgical instruments and bandages were disinfected.
